"I used my sense of humor to fit in at school. It was a form of currency with the popular crowd. Having foreign parents and a weird name didn’t help. What I had going for me was I could make people laugh."

Nasim Pedrad on using Emoji’s!

Doesn't it make you mad/sad that Nasim Pedrad with so much to say about her heritage and her Iranian background has to play a nothing-role of a plain-jane in a terrible and very vile sitcom? I mean, look at Cristela Alonzo. Her show is not the best thing ever but at least it's her own thing. I'm just heartbroken and depressed.

It’s not that Nasim ‘has to’ play Jane on Mulaney. She got afforded the role and she accepted it. It was her choice and she said that when she read the script, she absolutely loved it. Yes, it would be nice if Nasim had her own show about her Iranian background and family. The stories she has told about her family are amazing. Who knows, maybe in the future she’ll have other opportunities that are more in line with her Iranian background, but for now she’s doing Mulaney and she loves it.
